How
Legal Aid Leaders Can Help
Although
your state's IOLTA program will lead the charge to relieve
the squeeze on IOLTA revenues, if you are an executive director,
resource developer, bar leader, or Access-to-Justice activist
in your state, you too can help. Here are some of the things
you can do:
-
Urge
your IOLTA program to adopt an aggressive revenue enhancement
strategy, and offer your help.
-
Help
publicize local banks that support IOLTA (through favorable
rates and reduced fees) through any public relations channels
to which you have access, including your program newsletter,
your local bar publication, your annual report and your
community service awards program.
-
Mobilize
your board, local bar leaders, and other opinion-makers
in your community to get behind IOLTA and support revenue
enhancement efforts.
-
If
you or your board members are well connected in your local
business community, use that influence to persuade banks
to provide fair treatment for IOLTA accounts.
