The Resource supports the environment as a corporate citizen and as a business. Environmental protection is a major challenge of our generation. Every community in America bears the scars of human exploitation ranging from 19th-century mining, logging and industrial development to 20th-century runaway urban sprawl and fossil-fueled air and water pollution.

As we enter the 21st century, we face three critical challenges: healing the scars of the past, standing up for wise public and private actions in the present and building the institutions and legal frameworks for the future that will ensure a healthy environment for our grandchildren.

Enormous progress has been made in the last 20 years: environmental laws have been passed, public agencies have been created and our citizenry has become much better informed than ever before about complex relationships linking the way we live and earn our bread to the quality of the air we breath and the water our kids drink.

Since 1987 our company has made environmental protection a major focus of our public service commitment. We have devoted thousands of pro bono hours applying our expertise in planning and non-profit leadership as founders and leaders of two grassroots citizens groups in our community. In 1999 we had the opportunity to expand this work in a private consulting engagement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
